Yeah, I think it´s the overall breedinggolas that have changed the last 20 years, hence more dogs that are more hectic and easily excited, and not only fero resposnible for this, as was said some dogs have much linebreeding on fero but still seems quite calm compared to others that have him only once thru different dogs. About aggression, was that this really something that fero and his sons needed more of?? Quite much of that what I heard, at least when fero comes thru troll or arry, at least the direct troll son I was thinking about, but I guess there are many and the different females he was used to also matter.

Paul,
I agree with you, regarding the pedigree of a dog.
I just reread what I wrote & see how it can be misunderstood. It's not that I don't care what's in a pedigree(I DO). I just meant that no matter how great it may be, if the dog/pup doesn't meet the rest of my criteria then the pedigree is of no use to me as I wouldn't get that particular dog/pup. The pedigree/breeding is just a starting point in finding the right dog. Does that make more sense?

This is my Fero, Troll, Timmy female sleeping on her couch in my office this am.  And yes, she is a screamer, LOL!

Someone once said to me, don't breed to a pedigree and titles. Breed to a dog that you know, have seen work, and then the pedigree. Make sure through research of such a match that you have the best chance for success in what you are trying to produce.  And that is what I try to do.  Really hoping for a litter soon based on that advice.

Back to the original question (no, I haven't time to read the whole thread) many of the Arolser Holz dogs, if you can find them now that Horst has passed, are Fero-free. They are intentionally so in order to offer options to breeders needing to out-cross away from that bloodline. Mine is too old to breed at 12.5 yrs., but some of his and his siblings' progeny are still young, (as young as 3 yrs old)  and they, too, are Fero-free, as that was my intent when I produced them.

Thanks for that info Shelly!
I now have a nice list going of breeders & studs(Fero free) that I can refer to for future use.
As soon as I get a few extra minutes, I'll put it together & post on here for others.
