Jerry Ross

Last fall I purchased a pup from Spitzenhund Kennels. I am very cautious about giving too much praise to a young dog as many times a promising
pup develops into something that is not good. I say this with much certainity as I have been a dog trainer for over 40 years. Most of my career I have
worked as a Behavioral Science Practicioner, Author, Consultant and Master Police K9 Trainer. My entire career in Law Enforcement was as head trainer and handler of the K9 Units.
My young dog, Flint vom Spitzenhund at nine months is an amazing dog. He is not only the most loving dog and dedicated dog I have had in over twenty five years. He has focus and willingness that is unparalleled. When I work this boy in retrieval work with the kong, I almost have to wear body armour. I do wear crotch protection and gloves. I am over six feet tall and weigh 230 lbs. He has so much power, energy and willingness to please me, I am almost always overwhelmed by him. He goes out like a rocket and comes back just as hard.  He's actually intimidating in the retrieval work. When I work him with the Kong, he bristles from the base of his tail to his neck. I have never trained or even seen a dog in my career who displays hackles during retrieval work. The more I work him, the stronger he gets. I am planning to begin bitework with him at about a year of age. My training goal will be KNPV style Police Training. He's amazing. His mother Roxy is for sure an equal part of his genetic load. I don't like to praise breeders too highly, but Spitzenhund has done a great job on this breeding of Bomber v Wolfsheim with Roxy.Hessenstein  I can speak of no other breedings, since I can only speak of dogs that I have had my hands on and seen work in person. I have worked and trained many many tough dogs. If all goes well, I plan to breed Flint with my Tiekerhook bitch.

Well I have sung the praises of Bomber before and I will again. There was an uninvited intruder into the home of Bomber. He broke through his crate, slammed him into the wall and bit him in the stomach, Parrish got up outed the dog, Bomber went into a hold and bark and the man was dealt with, and the dog was put back in a crate. This is a Sch 3 KKL1 GSD that does real work.

What would the "mating check" look like for a breeding of him to your Tiekerhook female?     I have had a dog with Tiekerhook lines, who went on the become a police dog, so am curious.

I just put a  new photo of Flint on the Database. Check out  Flint vom Spitzenhund on a pedigree search. I'm new on these forums so I don't
know how to attach photos, if that is possible. I have some very good photos of Flint that I took last week. The photo on his link on this site is one of them.
