trap question. too negative. Which country does the best with the GSD breed? better question and jump off point. Very diffcult for me to take OP serious by the way the Question was poised. next post talking about Fila B says a mouth full also.

looks like you failed the question and class gsd "student"

by gsdstudent on 23 November 2014 - 12:11

i think not nerve, The only country to not fail in some way would be a country which never bred the GSD. So Atlantis? Which breed program serves the GSD best? try that one as your daily thought.

Zdog:

The most recent membership numbers I have heard from the SV is about 60,000 +/- members. That is likely 6-8 times as large as the combined memberships of the GSDCA, USCA and the GSDCA-WDA! If you take duplicate or triplicate membership crossovers into consideration then the SV number probably out distances the net US membership by a ratio approaching 10:1.

Sadly those SV membership numbers are down from 100,000+ in the the 80s and 90s.

Import from the UK??...lol.  Only breeder in that country I would trust is Vizlor, most certainly not any Police/Govt run kennel!

Plenty of good dogs in the USA, just get out from behind the keyboard and find them.

Haz ?  Reason why you would not buy a dog produced from the Police Service breeding programmes ?

(IF available to you for export).  I thought the OP's question centred on GSDs working ability, something our

Police Authorities' Dog Sections know a great deal about, at least for purposes of policing the British

Isles.  Not really a matter of Government involvement, except in so far as the Government pay for the

whole Police Service out of our taxes.  Sincerely doubt anyone on Cameron's team dictates breeding

policy.

And why would you only trust one private Kennel  (Vislor) ?   Not knocking them, at all, - but there are a

number of other UK GSD breeders, including those with a specific working / sports line bent, who I would

happily trust  (a) to know what they are doing and (b) not to rook their customers.  So how about some

explanation / evidence / examples ?

Don't disagree with what you and others have posted about dogs in the US (and keyboard jockeys Regular Smile)

but am concerned that you make such a sweeping statement about British breeding.

Why?  Simply because I dont trust them to be able to select quality animals that make good breeding candidates.  Nor do I trust them to know the different blood lines and what they bring to the equation.

Watch their training and how they work the dogs.  Control is minimal to non existent and the work put out by the dogs is nothing special.  These are the people that work SLs on the street, why an earth would I think they have the capability to actually produce anything notable?

As to UK breeders, Vizlor has competed with their dogs on the world level , they have quality bloodlines (NOT from the UK) and have proven their stock through training and competition.  I understand that WLs, proper training/testing and protection sports are not prevalent in the UK in part due to misinformation and propaganda by the AR idiots.

All in all there is no reason you would import from the UK when there is much more varied selection of proven quality stock in Europe and the USA.

I have no issue with the UK using their own GSD for LE work Im sure they have some nice dogs but there is nothing special there imo and the idea you would import from that program is ludacris.

I understand that police culture and ROE there is radically different then here which maybe bleeds into how they use and select dogs.

I do like their Cockers though, they look like nice single purpose dogs.

Thats my opinion take it for what its worth ;).
