I have to comment once again as the originator of this thread about the staggering viewing figures. As I write this the viewing figures have just passed the HALF A MILLION mark despite the fact that nothing has been written for the last six weeks.

When the thread was first posted the people who were vociferous in saying it is uninteresting, all been done before and had no future as a topic were grossly wrong. So much for their opinions regarding this thread because clearly there is interest on a large scale. It is such a pity that more readers did not come forward with their comments and views.

As far as I am concerned the first thing I can take from the thread is that it does not matter what side is followed a decline in character is experienced by all sides and should not be laid at any particular sector. It is also clear that Breeders and Trainers must pay more attention to their selection of breeding material and selection of dogs that can face the rigours of becoming a true working dog with a strong German Shepherd character. This applies to all bloodlines wherever they come from i,e. Germany (east or west) Czech, USA, Europe, working or show, there must be a worldwide common aim.

I would like more posters to contribute and for those who are worried about posting for one reason or another I have to say that there is nothing to fear from the Trolls that contribute. One only has to look at their conception of what makes a good German Shepherd dog often falls well short of the mark. These people should look to themselves and re-evaluate their views, however, we all know that will not happen.

Decline?

the best dogs and trainers of right now are better than the best dogs and trainers at any other time in the history of the breed.

why are you convinced that all the best old dogs are better than the top dogs now, how have you calculated this??

bad dogs, good dogs and great dogs always exist in any era.

you just assume things were better in your day, they weren't.

You write the word Decline? You have written on this thread and others in the past regarding poor characters and you are taking this in the context of today’s dogs. You now say “the best dogs and trainers of right now are better than the best dogs and trainers at any other time in the history of the breed” and, to me, this seems to be a contradiction on your part.

I have never suggested or said that “all the best old dogs are better than the top dogs now” and so there is no need for me to calculate anything. Also, I have never assumed that the dogs in the past were better than today’s dogs.

I suppose it would be a fair reflection on your opinion if I take a quote from one of your earlier posts when you said “so lets not pretend we are having an objective discussion and continue to do with the breed what we have been doing; whatever the F we want.

VK4 back off, honestly you just can't miss a chance to cause trouble. Very last warning.
