I have bred dogs that have become police dogs and they were not my "best" dogs.  Police dogs have a tool set good for police work.  Seeing eye dogs are great dogs.  Plenty of "great" cadaver dogs.  The idea that either police officers or police dogs are the best of their kind is laughable.

The quote .... "How many of these cross breedings have produced top sport competitors or strong police k9s(Not patrol car ride alongs)?"

IPO dogs and police dogs are not the best at anything other than a job or sport.  As the news will inform us having a job in the NFL or the police force or military does not make you an exemplary human nor does a police dog or competition sport dog represent the "best" in a dog breed.

I suppose I am not a dog bigot in that I don't look at any group of dogs as being superior or inferior as some here do.

Bigot : a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. : a bigoted person; especially : a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)

The entire show line versus working line war of words tells me nothing about individual dogs .. just individual people.

No Bubba, you are not a dog bigot, you are a human bigot, proven by all your posts about humans. You are a bigot against police and military work and anyone who happens to like those groups, but, you are not a dog bigot. Maybe you should read that definition of bigot you provided again....

I don't think people relating/sharing their experience is a "war" on any line. It always comes down to the individual dog, not so much the line.

The "war" is usually between the folks who have little or no experience in what they are talking about. For the people who have invested time/money in getting an education there is nothing to "war" over. They know what they know and what works for them and that's really what matters.

Assigning qualities to a person or dog based on an artificial grouping is a form of bigotry.  Police officers and military personnel are not different biologically from other humans .. they have training and skills which can be used for good or evil .. sometimes how they use those skills is not even totally within their control ( ie they are ordered to do evil ).  A police dog ordered to bite an innocent will do so.  Classifying the police dog as the apex of dog breeding is an insult to the intelligence of breeders and the public.  Classifying working line as superior to show line is bigotry as defined.

The first step to being a bigot is to assign positive attributes to the group you belong to or wish to idolize which that group does not have or merit.  The second step is to assign negative attributes to the group you wish to claim is inferior which that group does not have or merit.

Working line dogs are superior in physical attributes .. show line dogs are inferior in physical attributes.

Police dogs are the best dogs because they are stronger and braver than dogs not in police service.

Football players are better athletes than dancers.

Shall I go on or give examples from the news of people and dogs belonging to either of these groups .. Football players vs dancers, working vs show line dogs, police vs non-police dogs, military vs non-military, and police officers vs non-police officers .. who were not the best of their breed or species??

The Good news .. plenty of good GSD to breed together and worrying about breeding show or working together is a fools errand.  Breeding GSD is about finding a combination that produces offspring good for a particular job or use be it nose work,  guide dog, or family protector.

Those who wish to keep up the sniping do so in PM's, thanks guys.

Bubba... you are so wrong... it is not even funny, it is sad.. actually pathetic.

The posts above only prove that you are exctremely limited not only in knowleadge about PD dogs but IPO dogs and pretty much every type of dog in between combined.

Done debating

Sounds like "because we say so" is the reason for not crossing working and show lines .. similar to the reason that black and white people should not marry and have children or gay people should not be able to marry.  The idea of crossing working line and show line seems to be an affront to those who are sure that working line dogs are what everyone no only should own but if they have their way will only be allowed to own??  I mean the working line dogs must be protected from contaminating their "pure" blood with inferior show line blood.  That does sound familiar??

Blood mixture and the result drop in the racial level is the sole cause of the dying out of old cultures; for men do not perish as a result of lost wars, but by the loss of that force of resistance which is continued only in pure blood. All who are not of good race in this world are chaff.

Comparing a breed of dog that is being bred for working purposes to biracial and homosexual marriages is ridiculous.
