It would seem that not to many people within the GSD community could care less about this breed 672 views 12 posters that is what is wrong with our breed no one cares whether we loose all our CCs whether we continue to be laughed at by the KC over a simple change of name no health screening requiered or whether our sport becomes the same as showing a poodle or pom strung up 1 lap and 1 diagonal run hey maybe even a table to put our dogs on so the judge can look good doing their hands on assessment   Never has their been a time when we need all the GSD people to stand together and fight every corner because if we do not then what i have said above is what to expect as far as GSD showing in this country

There is a full meeting of the Breed Council today 25th July. The item re Allocation of CC's 2012 will be included on the agenda. Having spoken to Sheila Rankin she assures me that this item will be brought up - she has had several copies of this letter hereself. For Essex the Breed Council and one copy to whom it may concern! Having spoken to other club Sec's & committees they have also received this letter so if one forgets there are others that will bring the item up. My club is unable to attend today as we are on the point of loosing our training ground where we have been for the past 42 years! and have a meeting with our local council to see what can be done. So just for today can we not sit back and see what ideas come from the Breed Council. ( I can hear you now David!)
jim h - some people will not come on this board for fear of being attacked or put down it is not that they don't care.

Sophie that is not an excuse if they love this breed as they say they do then speak up for it,, this is a topic that needs every one's attention now,, surely they are not happy to sit back and let this happen, this will affect all of us fom the novice to the bigger breeders we need every ones input on this.I would hope that the disscussion on this and other subjects at the BC meeting will be put on here for all of us to see and read as we all need to know what if anything has been decided.

Jaymesie51, You're right about the lack of care, if you look at all the serious issues over the past few years that needed a united front, they have all wilted to nothing. Because anything that needs a debate, or issues like the C.Cs that needs a united front, it gets debated on here for any and everyone to see any strategy that may have a chance to be use or turned against you. It's like living in a high crime area, putting a notice in you're window to say you're on Holiday for 2 weeks and leaving you're door keys on the gate post. The K.C. don't even need to work out any possible strategy from the B.C. or any other body that they may, in the distant past have had any respect for, because it's all concluded on here. They can see the panic and disarray on this site, plus any moles they have in their pocket. The big stick is out! and it looks like they are going to batter the breed with it, or they could be playing like a cat and mouse. If they are serious about taking the C.C.s in 2112 maybe, they want to get rid of a very small portion af the show scene that is a pain in their butt. It may be inevitable  that a break away will be forced, which might be the answer to both sides of the argument. We shall see! Bill Owen.

Bill the biggest problem we have is the lack of unity in our breed its the i'm alright jack attitude of most of the breed well that attitude has brought us to where we are now we are in disarray the KC know this and that is why they are now attacking us so i plead with all GSD enthusiasts YOUR BREED NEEDS YOU please stand up and be counted for once lets show a united front

There is a GSD BREED COUNCIL meeting today, Please read the "first" post on this thread. Do any of you think it is a simple coincidence that the Kennel Club sent their letter out TWO DAYS BEFORE THIS BREED COUNCIL MEETING. to all GSD Club Secretaries?

Do you ALL know there is a PRESENTATION at today's Breed Council, involving the GSD Partnership & the Kennel Club on the fundamentally flawed "accredited breeders scheme"?

Do you ALL know that the proposed "accredited GSD scheme", as proposed by West Yorkshire GSD Club - has NOT been included on today's Breed Council AGENDA.  Even though it was submitted correctly for the AGENDA!

note added 26/0709: It now appears it was "composited" with another agenda item.

AND I HAVE BEEN LET DOWN, ONCE I SAW THEIR 'NEW' STANDARD FOR THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG. AND WANT THEY WISH FOR ONE TO LOOK LIKE IN THE PICTURE LIBRARY.
I USED TO TRUST THE KENNEL CLUB, UNTIL 2008. ALTHOUGH I HAD LOST HOPE IN THEM FOR THE GSD IN 2007!!!!

The "politics" of suspending the allocation of our breeds CC's in 2012 is purely for "leverage" purposes.

The Kennel Club are running a very high risk strategy in doing this.

The GSD BREED must present a united front, and take a positive decision to SUSPEND all dialogue with the KENNEL CLUB until they withdraw their letter. In the meantime the GSD BREED needs to vigorously explore all alternatives to remaining under the KENNEL CLUB system.

We need to stay calm and focused, and we must take full advantage of the opportunities presented to us by the Kennel Clubs threat.

By any realistic assessment we have until the end of 2010 to establish a "programme" of "GSD EVENTS" for 2012, and if necessary an alternative "registration" system.

Make no mistake in this age of computers and instant communication, we can convince the public very quickly and very effectively, that a GSD Breed Two Tier Registration System, with the first Tier based on the "Accredited GSD Scheme" which is FAR SUPERIOR THAN THE CURRENT KENNEL CLUB SYSTEM.

We can also implement Championship Certificates at our GSD Events, and agree on how many would make up a CHAMPION.

There are numerous organisations that would "tailor make" a registration system for GSD, and I an damn sure the cost would be less than £12 per puppy.

If the Kennel Club wish to retain the GSD breed within its organisation, they need to allow double handling at all of our GSD Breed Shows, and restrict it at ALL BREEDS Shows. The Kennel Club will also need to DROP the name ALSATIAN, and co-operate with our GSD breed by implementing a Two Tier registration system based on the "accredited GSD scheme", with our 're-vitalised' Breed Council playing a pivotal role.

The future looks bright, all we have to do is "go for it".
