Rik - first of all, it is sad to read about your daughter, but great to read about your grandson's success. Sports will keep him focused and on a good path - so keep up the support for that and even if he doesn't win state champ he will benefit immensely from it and your involvement.

Guessing you have had GSL mostly? What is it about the GSL today that makes you say "no more"?

This is a photo of my GSD when he was about 10 months old ...wgsl and american showlines....he almost made it 12 years of age with no health issues throughout his beautiful life I had with him ( cancer got him in the end :(.

He had the unusual bitch stripe on his back that most male dogs dont have but personally I loved it.

He always hated the vets so besides the annual rabies shot I never brought him to the vet. He died by my side at home.At 11.8 years of age he slowed down alot and the night before he passed he didnt want to eat or take treats. Before I could bring him the vet to my home to euthanise him he had passed.
